Sorrow and ugliness do not reside in things or situations external to us. They are qualities imposed by our own minds and hearts. How common is the call to "stamp out wrongdoing" as though, if we were to order our world to our own satisfaction, we would automatically become joyous and beautiful in ourselves.

Joy and Beauty well up within us all the time. That is their only true source. If we would experience God's world we must see through God's eyes. We must temper habitual reactions to conditions about us and say "In spite of what appears to me, God is there, and where God is there can be only good." God never leaves our world but we must learn to recognise Him by clearing our own flawed vision.

In spite of all conditions and circumstances, learn to affirm God's presence alone.

The path of Truth cannot be trodden in the mind and heart only. It is simultaneously a physical path. God is not divided into seen and unseen. Love is not just thoughts and feelings, it is also actions. In God we are all bound in Oneness wherein we cannot escape the consequences of our sentiments and behaviour. If I think badly of you, if I harm you or withhold my help from you, I malign, harm or deprive myself. This is basic to Truth, not mere etiquette.

This does not mean knee-jerk charity. Firstly it means sincere acknowledgement of the person or situation; it means directing our understanding towards them, deciding what would best help the other person to help themselves, what action we can sustain. How, like the Samaritan in the Master's story, we can help move them from a position of acute distress to a situation with better potential for recovery.

Truth students live firmly in this world. We are God's stewards, His hands here and now.

Frightening as it may seem, All-presence allows no halfway attitude in us.. We cannot take out an insurance policy against the possibility that He may fail us.

Trust is like being the first guest to enter a beautiful, carpeted banquet room. As the doors sweep closed silently behind us we find ourselves in a hushed environment of plenty. We are cut off from all worldly clamour, all want and distress. If we would enter trust we must imagine this environment, must desire with all our heart to be in it.

"It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God" says the Master. It is not a comment about material wealth but about materialism, the view that sees "things" as real in themselves rather than as the manifestation of ideas. So trust your heavenly Father, share His good ideas, and become heir to His kingdom of all-good.

The Mediterranean world of the Master with its hinterland was as filled with different ideas and conflict as ours. What distinguishes anyone in such a world? Money, power, cleverness are commonplace. And the size of social institutions probably records little more than conformity.

But love never fails to impress. What lies in those who find time to give of themselves regardless of return? What turns the attention of some from hostility and abuse directed at them? Why are some so calmly brave in the face of danger? There is something strong and good within them. What is it?

The tree is known by its fruit. That is a principle that can be accepted by both materialist and idealist. So, if you would become a good influence in your world, express the Good that resides in you. Be an ambassador of your Father's kingdom, inviting the curiosity of others to visit it.The Path of Truth

We no longer revere absolute monarchs. People want to apply their own minds to what confronts them, want to participate in the risks. No-one may tell them who or what God is. They will decide whether there is a God and what role He should play in their lives. And so it should be.
Yet the timeless contract of true Monarchy remains: Absolute obedience begets absolute security. What does God demand of us? Must we forego what delights us and endure rituals of submission, or do we have to part to play? In a pure monarchy the interests of the king are identical with those of his subjects. Where he prizes enquiry, knowledge, understanding, fearlessness and joy, we too participate in them.

God's presence assures us "Take My yoke upon you, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light."

GOD IN ME ATTRACTS OTHERS

True humility comes from assuredness, from knowing that we abide in God and therefore have nothing to assert and nothing to defend. Our humility is not submissive but rather attractive, in the literal sense. People are drawn to us because we seem to offer refuge amidst the worldly tumult.

Make it a goal in your daily rounds to disarm others. If you know the answer where others are confused, then offer it in an understated way, as a possibility. Without becoming taciturn, use silence as a way of making your point. Sow your ideas and let them emerge through others, as though they were theirs. Always listen to what someone is saying, let them finish before responding. All this may seem superficial, but its Origin gives it strength.

Above all, never brandish your beliefs. God, His prophets and their inspired words do not need you to protect them. Holy war is a contradiction in itself. God judges no-one but has built His law into the world. By our thoughts, feelings, words and deeds we judge ourselves.

We live in a world of showmen and con-men. It is almost as though they found some idea or product, and then pulled out all stops, especially emotional appeals to human goodness to sell it. Do all those who seek to uplift others, or to convert unbelievers to God, do it from Love, or for how many of them is it merely self-aggrandizement or an industry?

We cannot speak for them, but we can speak for ourselves. God does not need worldly protection. He does not need anyone to promote Substance Which already constitutes all that is. Let us live and work quietly, like a light shining steadily in the darkness, and let our example give glory to our Father, testify to what is.

Love and faith result inevitably in humility and reveal the Almighty in which we live and move and have our being.
