Weekly Quote 28

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee - (Isa 26:3)
I guard my mind that I may think right thoughts which are acceptable to you, Father

It is said that our thoughts go out into the air like waves, and attract similar waves to themselves. How necessary it is, therefore, that we should control our minds if we want to live in peace and be happy.

If we send out thoughts of hatred, anger, misery, other similar thoughts are joining ours and increasing them. Let us be sure to keep our minds single to the good that only good can be demonstrated in our lives. If we dwell on goodness, truth, love, beauty, health, happiness, and prosperity, these are the things that we can expect to manifest to us.

As we think, so we are, then let us think positively and constructively about all things. Let us know that we are one with God - one with His mind and intelligence, His wisdom and power. What He is, we potentially are. Let us act on this knowledge at all times that things may go well with us.

Commune with your own hearts on your beds - (Ps 4:4)
I DWELL IN THE HOUSE OF THE LORD FOREVER

Hand in hand with Joy goes Peace, gentle reverberations of God in our hearts and minds. Many techniques, exercises, are offered to attain inner peace, but we may find it very simply. Say with the Psalmist "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want; He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters; He restores my soul." You may form your own sentiments and visualise your own images.

Peace, Joy, Trust, are the same thing - attunement with God your Father. We need to devote time daily to it, but it should follow us gently throughout our day, in all our activities, light and strenuous. When we become strident or irate we know we have lost touch, and need to refocus.

Learn never to mull over the hardships and frustrations of your day. They have passed, should never have been allowed foothold in your thoughts and emotions. Think now only of your true place as the beloved child of your Father, experience His Peace, Joy and assurance.

Weekly Quote 26

I will not fail you or forsake you - (Josh 1:5)
I honour God's promises with my determination

Our resolve to follow the path of Truth is best demonstrated when the going is difficult. We do not panic or despair, but carry on with a quiet determination and conviction that the way is being made open in spite of all appearances.

It would be a hopeless mission if God whimsically decided whether to help us or abandon us. But this is impossible because He is Law and cannot but abide by His own terms. There are only a few variables in every true thing that we try to achieve in life - our sincerity and persistence. The Master puts it with a twinkle in his story of a man who goes to his friend at midnight to borrow bread. The friend obliges not because he feels sorry for the man but because of the man's sheer "importunity".

Therefore know that your heavenly Father never lets you down, and proceed with utter determination in all that you need and truly desire.

Weekly Quote 25

The aim...is love that issues from a pure heart - (1 Tim 1:5)
I accept God's love and move on

Even sincere followers of Truth are vulnerable to feelings of self-satisfaction when they give of themselves to others and forgive. But the aim of Truth is a sort of forgetfulness about ourselves. In everything we do the works of our Father, never our own. Acclaim or failure never enter our minds because in God is everything assured.

The beginner in Truth grapples with self-awareness. It is natural because he or she is trying to cast off the restraining habits of a lifetime. But as we progress we come more and more to trust Love and therefore not to look in and around ourselves for the fruits of our new life. God wants us to accept and press on, not to linger unnecessarily in the moment.

So keep looking forwards, with a pure heart. Do not become anxious about the difficulties that you encounter in life no matter how grave they appear. Do not see yourself as God's soldier, engaged in a struggle with evil. Only God heals and solves. Your part, in love, is to open yourself to Him.
