The leap from self to God has ever daunted man. What we have may be less than satisfactory, but at least we are familiar with it. What we may find in God is unknown - perhaps we will be worse off. With wry understanding of human nature the Master depicts our vision of commitment as a "yoke". Henceforth, we imagine, we will carry a burden.

But faith is not a sudden-death choice. To arrive at faith we have to mature through several stages of consciousness. The little leaven has to do its work in us. Throughout our development our trust is confirmed until finally it becomes certainty. Never, never, does God let us down. As our trust transforms into knowledge an indescribable peace settles upon us. We have discovered true Self.

Faith is not merely something we must achieve - it is a condition that God desires to express. In some way and for some reason - we know not why - Mind needs to pour out into time and space and matter, into what we call the world.
